"Touching Spirit Bear" by Ben Mikaelsen is the novel study we are currently reading in class and at home. This book is about a 15 year old boy who is a really BAD kid. He is a bully. He doesn't take responsibility for his own actions or words, and he is not really even a decent human being. This book has brought about some interesting conversations in our classes. Please feel free to talk about this book with your children and take the opportunity to discuss value systems that are important to your family. I am very pleased to see the students being outspoken about their ideas of good behavior and the morals they have and expect from each other! Your children are 100% delightful!
Abby is really enjoing "Touching Spirit Bear". She is so excited about the bookfair! Thank you for all you do!
ReplyDeleteGrant is really enjoying reading "Touching Spirit Bear" and I'm elated to see him interested in a book that is a genre other than fantasy! I would be interested in reading the book as well. Do you have a classroom library that parents can borrow books from?
ReplyDeleteYou can get an account at our school library to check out books for you, the parent. I only have one copy of the book and it is all marked up for my teaching. You can also just keep Grant's when he is done. Then return it when you are done with it too. :)
ReplyDeleteAs you can probably tell by the name of this blog, I'm a fantasy fiend too! However, "Touching Spirit Bear" is one of those books that just reach out and grab you. Adults and kids will both like it. There is even a another book making is a semi-series?? Is that even a word?
ReplyDeleteSo it has a sequel to it? Great! I love the idea of just using Grant's copy. Thank you. I'm a pretty fast reader so I'll have it finished almost as soon as he does.
ReplyDeleteIt is called "Ghost of Spirit Bear"
